Park NewsBarrie Bailey of Clare Valley has contributed a response to the proposal from Rayner Davies for pre-planning consultation with regard to the development of the Sun Drive bungalow. Click on “Read more…” to see it and if you wish to contact Barrie his details are listed at the end of his submission. He is keen to hear from you. If you wish to view the plans for the development the Estate Office has copies.

  1. Past planning applications to develop the elevated Sun Drive site, in the midst of the wooded hillside escarpment, rising behind the Clare Valley named properties opposite the tennis courts and upwards to Park Terrace, have been refused. The latest refusal was in respect of the December 2003 proposal by virtue of its scale, height, mass and appearance, and also was contrary to specific policies and aims under the Nottingham Local Plan and the Park Conservation Area Policy.

  2. Planning policies relevant to this decision seek to ensure that developments pay appropriate attention to the architectural and townscape context in which they are situated and preclude developments which would not preserve or enhance the character or appearance of a Conservation Area.

  3. The latest refusal followed representations made on behalf of over 90 Park residents.

  4. A new proposal is now being put forward for this site by Rayner Davies , architects.

  5. There is a large group of Park residents in the Bowl Area and on the perimeter above the ste, enjoying the amenity of the escarpment and the immediate area, who are directly affected by this new proposal.

  6. Having examined the new proposal, which is for an extensive stretched residence on this elevated site and of similar concept to the December 2003 application, any new formal planning application made for this latest proposal will be opposed by the neighbouring residents.

  7. We would appreciate your continued support on this.

  8. In order to co-ordinate responses, please telephone, write or email in the first instance to:-
