When are we going to get the lights working in the tunnel? As there are lights there already surely it can't be a difficult task to get them working. And it could really do with a good tidy too!!

Hello,
The Nottingham Park Conservation Trust have commissioned lighting for inside the Tunnel, and this will be installed shortly. Originally the City were to do this but it never transpired, despite the Trust giving a grant to help with the work recently done (the lighting was to be included with this). There have been many complications concerning the maintenance and lighting of the Tunnel.
The ownership of the Tunnel lies with the City, as does the maintenance and cleaning of it. The sticking point is that the City want us to take full long term liability of the Tunnel, which the Company cannot agree to. The Trust and the Company have been in negotiations with the City for many months concerning the day to day maintenance, which we would be happy to do without taking the liability, but so far have not reached an agreement.
However, the lighting issue will be finally resolved in the near future.

I have recently moved to the area and did not realise that you could still get into the tunnel.
Where does it come out?
Thanks
Rupert

Just thought I'd drag this thread up...
Although the lights do work in the tunnel now they only seem to work after dark and not in early evening when it's already quite dark in there.
Also the Derby Road end works as a motion detector light but only activates when you're already nearly at the steps! It means you can't see into that end of the tunnel at all as you walk up. And with the large numbers of pigeons in there it'd be nice to see what you're stepping in!
Why can't the lighting be similar to the Park end of the tunnel - lighting up the roof and on all the time? (Well at night anyway).

Further to that - I went through the tunnel last night and there were no lights on AT ALL. I heard the motion sensor one click but no light. The three uplights at the Park end were also off. A very dark walk home it was!
This was at about 1:30am on a Saturday morning.
