Out of curiosity...what's the price break down for the £20 fee for the new barrier cards?
I am happy with the old one (for which I paid under £10 I'm sure).
These cards cost around £2.50 don't they? At worst it's looking at around £8.50.

What do our constantly increasing Park rates cover?

The original cryptags, when first distributed about 14 years ago, were £10 each. This increased to £16, and then £20 in 2002, as the cost to us increased.
The Norpass tags cost us £18.91 each. We charge £20; the tiny amount we make above the cost to us goes towards maintaining the barriers, but this doesnt cover the entire cost of damage done by vandals and people who run into the barriers. The remaining cost of repair comes from the Perpetual Rentcharge.
Our rising kerb system is pretty unique in the amount of usage and users and so many similar systems cannot cope with the work it does. We needed one that was more than adequate for the job and Barry Hill researched this heavily before we installed the new system last year. The old computer/reader is now obsolete and is costing us ever increasing amounts to keep it going. We cannot get spare parts for it now and so its had to be replaced. The old cryptags will be unusable once it is switched off in September.
The Perpertual Rentcharge pays for the maintenance of all the common areas in the Park Estate - roads, pavements, trees, lighting etc. A full breakdown is covered in the annual accounts, which you will receive if you register as a Company Member. All owners or freeholders of property in the Estate can register; there is no fee for this.

Thanks for the information. This does sound more reasonable once explained. I was thinking it may have been the cheaper 'cotag' system.
